Updated: Lifetime Aspirations by ky-e

IMPORTANT NOTE:

This post has been retired! Please refer to the new Lifetime Aspirations Reworked post to grab the update!

My friend was sad that she had to take out one of her favourite mods after the recent melter patch for High School Years, as it had been broken and is no longer maintained - so I offered to update it for her. Credits for the original parts of this mod go to ky-e.

Installation instructions:

This mod comes with two folders and a script file:

  • "NC4T_LifetimeAspirations.ts4script" - this script file makes the original aspiration rewards be available for buying via the rewards store. It is not required for the mod to run and can be removed if you do not want this.
  • Folder "01 Lifetime Aspirations" - the files in this folder change the game's aspirations
  • Folder "02 New Aspirations" - the files in this folder add new aspirations to the game

You can use either, or both of the folders. All individual files are sorted by pack, please only install files for packs you own, delete all the rest. The "BG" packages inside each folder are required, all pack-specific files are pick-and-choose.

1. Extract the Zip file and move it into your /Mods folder
2. Choose the packages you want to install and move them over to the Lifetime Aspirations folder
3. Delete the zip and all extra files you don't need or want. Beware: only install files for packs you own!

Original description of the mod by ky-e as found on MTS:

One of my main problems with Sims 4 is how the Aspirations work. Rather than being lifetime commitments like previous games, they're more like extended tutorials. At last for me, this resulted in shallow and one-minded gameplay. I also wanted Aspirations to be more challenging, it should not be a guarantee that every Sim completes their Lifetime Aspiration IMO. They're supposed to require some hard work, and maybe even a little luck.

So I set out to fix it! This mod reworks Aspirations to get rid of their multiple levels/goals. Instead, they now have only one goal. They also all reward the same amount of satisfaction points (5,000). The result is a game which doesn't just encourage following a single path, and makes Sims feel more individual. It also encourages exploring different areas of the game. I don't think I've played certain careers or done certain activities ever just because they weren't tied to an Aspiration, and this mod helps alleviate that issue.

My Sims used to be nothing more than digital Satisfaction Point slaves, but not anymore!

What this mod does:

  • Changes all Aspirations to have a single goal, designed to take most of a Sim's natural life to fulfill.
  • Adds new Aspirations to help round out the game
  • Adds a new "Fulfilled" trait as a reward for completing Lifetime Aspirations, grants a permanent "Happy" moodlet." Old reward traits have been moved to the Rewards Store.
  • Adds an "Occult" Aspiration category, and moves all Realm of Magic/Vampires Aspirations there.
  • Most Aspirations grant 5000 Satisfaction Points upon completion, with the exception of the "Location" (1000 points) and "Occult" (2000 points) categories and Child Aspirations (1000 points).
  • Aspirations in the "Star Wars" category are now hidden until the Sim visits Batuu, and worth 1000 points.
